Job description

As a Design Engineer, you will be working on the development of connectors and customer-specific connectivity solutions. You will be involved throughout the entire process: from customer requirements and conceptual design to material selection, prototyping, testing, validation and transfer to production. You will work closely with a Senior Engineer, while gradually gaining more independence and responsibility in projects.

You will collaborate with colleagues in R&D, Sales and Production in the Netherlands and across our international locations. Externally, you will interact with suppliers and engineers from our customers. This gives you a broad scope in which you can translate your knowledge into practical solutions, working closely with others.

Projects range from standard configurations to complex R&D initiatives with new technologies and requirements. You will often work on several projects in parallel and contribute to optimizing production processes as well as solving technical quality issues.

Function requirements

You are structured, proactive and curious by nature. You enjoy asking the right questions to get to the best solution. Flexibility comes naturally to you: you can easily switch between different projects and don’t mind picking up tasks outside your formal role.

In addition, you are a strong communicator. You can make your point clearly, hold technical discussions independently and work smoothly with colleagues worldwide. You are also able to liaise effectively with both customers and suppliers.

To be successful in this role, it is desirable that you bring:

A background in mechanical engineering (or equivalent), with an interest in electronics.
Experience with SolidWorks or a comparable CAD system.
Knowledge of production processes, preferably in injection molding, metalworking or plastics.
Experience or interest in Finite Element Modeling (FEM) is a plus.
Experience with risk analyses such as Design FMEA (or willingness to learn).
Experience with project-based work, including planning and deliverables.
Language skills: English is required, Dutch is a strong advantage.
