System Engineer (32 - 40 uur)

Bolsius is a family-owned company and one of the world's leading candle manufacturers. This makes us a major player in the Home Ambiance category in over 50 countries. Headquartered in Schijndel, here the strategy is determined, innovations developed and tested before entering the international playing field. Bolsius has its own production sites in Poland and the Netherlands (Roermond). In addition, there are a number of local sales organizations. In recent years, Bolsius' proposition has successfully expanded from 'candle maker' to a full-fledged Home Ambiance brand with an emphasis on design, performance and sustainability. The strategy for the coming years is to further grow the Bolsius brand, within existing channels and customers, and beyond. As an employer, Bolsius combines the best of both worlds: an enterprising family business and a professional and internationally oriented culture. The organization increasingly works in cross-functional teams.

Bolsius believes it is important to pay attention to diversity, inclusion and equality. Every person is unique. We want everyone to feel welcome, safe and accepted, especially as an employee. We are convinced that attention for these topics leads to better performance, different perspectives and creativity. We strive for a working environment and culture in which all employees feel comfortable and can develop themselves fully.

As a System Engineer at Bolsius, your primary mission is to maintain and support the IT technical infrastructure, serving hundreds of users. This role places you in the heart of an exciting and evolving technical environment that includes multiple applications, an international network, and a private server park based on a twin-data center. Situated within the ICT department in Schijndel (The Netherlands), you'll collaborate closely with two other System Engineers (2nd line) and two Support Engineers (1st line), reporting directly to the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager. Your responsibilities in this role involve:

  • Technically managing, implementing, and documenting the entire international technical infrastructure.
  • Actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the ICT department's performance.
  • Managing data communication between various national and international branches.
  • Overseeing the international server park and specific applications outlined in the job requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining the security policy, in collaboration with the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager.
  • Conducting troubleshooting, independently or alongside a fellow System Engineer.
  • Supporting the Support Engineers.
  • Identifying developments and proposing structural improvements and solutions with end-to-end responsibility.
  • Providing technical assistance to other teams within the ICT department.
  • Participating in on-call duty, which involves covering two weeks from Monday to Monday, on a rotational basis with other IT department colleagues.

  • You demonstrate HBO work and thinking level, ideally confirmed by a diploma, although this is not mandatory.
  • Your professional background should include at least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Your technical expertise should cover a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft: Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022), Windows 10/11 Enterprise, Exchange Server 2019/Exchange Online, Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services, SQL Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure Entra, Hyper-V, Azure Stack HCI. Citrix: Virtual Desktops and Apps, HyperVisor (XenServer), NetScaler. Pre: VMware: ESX, vCenter, NSX. Storage & Backup solutions (Veeam & SANs). Hardware & Cabling (fiber cabling, data cabling, server hardware). Please note: It is not necessary to be an expert in all these solutions. We provide opportunities for learning new technologies and further developing your skills.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is beneficial. However, we encourage applications from candidates in other sectors, provided they meet the required IT knowledge level.
  • You should be analytical, goal-oriented, and skilled in solution-finding, with strong planning and organizational abilities. Your capacity to make considered decisions and effectively collaborate is essential for success in this role.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, both verbal and written, is essential.
  • The role requires a willingness to travel at least once a year to our factory in Poland and more frequently to our branch in Germany, which is not far across the border. For candidates who consider travel to be a valuable aspect of their professional experience, both the frequency and the number of locations (such as Italy) can be higher. We take into account your personal preferences and private situation. Rest assured, you will be well taken care of during these travels.

You can expect a challenging role at the heart of an international organization with growth ambitions, development opportunities, and excellent employment conditions. These include:

  • The flexibility to work part-time or full-time (32 to 40 hours per week);
  • Remote work option;
  • A competitive salary tailored to your level of experience;
  • A monthly allowance for standby duty;
  • 33 vacation days per year (based on a 40-hour workweek);
  • A solid pension scheme;
  • Laptop, and phone;
  • Opportunities for professional development through training and courses;
  • A volunteer program with one workday per year allocated;
  • Discounts on gym memberships;
